What is changing
The Children's Medical Services (CMS) Health Plan, Florida Medicaid's plan for children with special health care needs, is administered by Sunshine Health today and by Molina Healthcare starting October 1, 2026.
You don't need to re-apply
CMS Plan members transfer to Molina automatically. Watch the mail for your child's new Molina ID card.
Benefits and hours stay the same
Covered services don't change. Existing appointments and prior authorizations are honored during a continuity-of-care period.
Your provider must be in Molina's network
Sunshine Health provider contracts do not transfer. Ask your current ABA provider if they are contracted with Molina. Beaton Care is.
How to start ABA with Molina CMS
Florida Medicaid updated its ABA rules in 2025. Here is the real path, step by step. We handle steps 2 through 4 with you.
Diagnosis and physician order
A comprehensive diagnostic evaluation by a licensed practitioner plus a referral for ABA from your child's doctor.
Assessments
Our BCBA completes the Vineland-3 and BASC-3 and a functional behavior assessment, in your home or our office.
Authorization
We submit the treatment plan to Molina and follow up until it is approved. Authorizations run in six-month cycles; we track renewals so services don't lapse.
Therapy begins
A Registered Behavior Technician works with your child at home or at school, supervised by a BCBA, with caregiver training included.
